The Apalachicola River in the Florida Panhandle is the center for Tupelo honey. Tupelos are valued honey plants in the southeastern United States, particularly in the Gulf Coast region, producing a very light, mild-tasting honey making it the perfect honey to use for medicinal purposes. A teaspoon of honey has been shown to suppress a nighttime cough. A cup of piping hot water poured into a mug with two tablespoons of Tupelo honey and two tablespoons of lemon juice is sure to soothe any sore throat.
Sit back, sip and relax. Even if you're not sick, it's also just plain nice on a cold winter night.
